On Tuesday November 17, 2009 more than a third of Arizona's Legislators from both parties will meet to discuss the future of the state.
The economic crisis has affected Arizona, as it has many other states. It has impacted public education, public safety, law enforcement, transportatio and other services provided by the government.
One of the solutions that the government has decided on is to lower taxes. Their motto is, "lowering taxes will lead to more jobs." This has proven false time after time. Lowering taxes will cut back on government help.
The population of the state of Arizona has increased by 26.7%, which means that there is more financial pressure on the budget for government services, like education and public safety.
Arizona is going through the same budget crisis that happened back in the 80s with Reagan. He tried to cut taxes, but the public was objected to it. The public was not going to allow the budget and public services to be reduced in order to pay for tax cuts.
