Children have been denied child care and placed on a waiting list since earlier this year from the Department of Economic Security from the response of budget cuts. Even withh all these budget cuts next year few children will be able to get admitted to the program. Then in that duration many parents are unemployed and have been staying at home with their children.
To become eligible for this program children have to be the age 12 or younger and can stay until the age of 13 years old.The child-care program began in the early 1980s and expanded in the 1990s as federal subsidies became available. It was budgeted at $200 million this year.
I understand that companies are cutting back, but child care is not something that should not be cut back on. Children are our future and need support on health.
